The Grounds and Gardens
Gilsland Hall Hotel sits in 140 acres of manicured gardens, grounds and woodland – making it the ideal base for outdoor activities. The manicured gardens and traditional summerhouse also give guests the chance to sit, read, relax and enjoy the view over the surrounding countryside.
The Hotel boasts its own manicured bowling green, putting green and croquet lawn – all conveniently located near Hadrian’s Coffee Shop for mid-competition refreshments.
The remains of the original Spa Well, and Victorian swimming pool can be found next to the River Irthing on the Gorge Walk, together with the Popping stone where, legend has it, Sir Walter Scott proposed to his wife.
